There is a rather unique story
surrounding this design.
In keeping with an age old
tradition, the CO of 410 Squadron submitted a request to Air Command
for their permission to paint a 410 Squadron Colours Bird.
While he was away, someone 'thought' they had received permission.
Over that weekend, a group of hearty volunteers cleaned, prepped,
masked and painted the aircraft as a surprise for the CO.
On Monday morning when the
boss blew into work and asked the whereabouts of his aircraft...it
was ceremoniously wheeled in! It was only then that they realized
that the paint job had NOT been authorized and had to be removed.
This design recommended and
approved by WO Doug Dimmer.
