This design was approved ny Major Archie Cairns in the mid-1990's for cadets who participated in the summer training program.

If there is one name synonymous with the success of piping and drumming in the Canadian Armed Forces, it is Cairns! Major Archie Cairns and his successor (son) Major John Cairns set the standard!
